  • New SAT Test Taking Strategy Workshop - Free

The Regional Workforce Advisor for the Greenville Region to Host a free “NEW SAT” test taking strategy workshop for students who will be taking the New SAT in 2016.

The new SAT, which debuts in March, will look a lot different from the current version. Instead of three sections, there will be two: Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. Each will be scored on a 200-to-800 scale. There will no longer be a penalty for guessing, and the odds will be better (the number of possible answers will decrease from 5 to 4). The now-required essay will be optional.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the University Center of Greenville located at 225 S.Pleasantburg Drive, in Greenville, SC. All participants are asked to pre-register at 864-467-3620 or by email to jblankenship@sccommerce.com.

This workshop will only focus on the new SAT. Students in grades 8th -12th are welcome to preregister to attend. Lunch will be provided.

  • 4th Annual ACE Awards Nominations Open

We are excited to announce the 4th Annual ACE Awards (Advocates for Character and Education) will take place in May 2016.  At this time, one male and one female student who is considered a true “unsung hero” in their school will be honored.  This award was created to recognize students who often go unnoticed for one reason or another, but have accomplished great things in their community or school, or have overcome great adversities in their life.   These students will be recognized at the ACE Awards Banquet for outstanding character and academic effort.

Nominations from students, faculty, staff, parents and other community members are encouraged.  If you would like to nominate a Blue Ridge High School 12th grader who is truly an “Unsung Hero”, please complete a nomination form and return it to Ms. Fevrin in Guidance by Friday, January 29th.  Nomination forms are available in Guidance, the Student Information Center and online at www.c4caceawards.com.
